Concert features Elaine Hagenberg’s first extended work called Illuminare, consisting of five movements for SATB chorus and chamber orchestra. Using lesser-known sacred Latin, Greek, and English texts, the piece takes us through a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion. But as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace. The movements are entitled Splendor, Caritas, Nox, Munera Pacis, and Illuminare His. Also presents her “Loves Pure Light”, Wexford Carol, and Sussex Carol as well as Alleluia by Paul Basler, and Mack Wilberg’s “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy”. The concert will be presented at Grave Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC at 7:30pm, 8 December and 3:00 pm, 9 December 2023.
