Spring is indeed a delightful time, and the Tulip Extravaganza in downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina, adds a burst of color to the season. The tulips, encouraged by a warm spell, have decided to make an early appearance this year, with some already popping up.

The Tulip Extravaganza runs from April 1 to April 30 (with a sneak peek starting as early March 20), encompassing both Easter (March 31) and the week of Passover (April 22-30). Many downtown merchants join in the celebration by creating tulip-themed displays in their windows and offering spring specials. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore colorful shopping and dining experiences. As spring unfolds, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 tulips will bloom in the planters along Main Street. These vibrant flowers create a picturesque scene, thanks to the efforts of master gardeners Scott Johnson and Bruce Lowe, who meticulously landscape the planters. Barbara Hughes, owner of Narnia Studios and a passionate florist, initiated the annual Tulip Extravaganza. Her love for flowers and the desire to share their beauty with the community led to this cherished tradition. Downtown Hendersonville, with its tulip-lined streets, is indeed a treasure for Western North Carolina.
