The first concert of the season will be held on Saturday, October 19, with the theme Sounds of America—entitled Americana. In recognition of the upcoming Veterans Day and in anticipation of the nation’s 250th Semi-Quincentennial celebration, longtime director Winford Franklin has crafted a program filled with patriotic spirit. Highlights include the popular Armed Forces Salute, featuring the themes of all six service branches, a patriotic sing-along, and selections from Broadway and film. A vocal soloist from Florida State University will be featured, along with a lively Dixieland arrangement performed by the ensemble’s spirited Jazz Combo. Tickets are $12 and available in advance at the Hendersonville Visitors Center or at the door. Admission is free for students.
