Reading of the Polar Bear Express
The Apple Valley Model Railroad club located at the historic train depot, 650 Maple St. Hendersonville, NC 28792 will again host the reading of the popular book, The Polar Express from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, Dec 20th . Each reading takes about 45 minutes. Admission is free and open to the public. Donations are gladly accepted. The club recommends arriving at about 9:30 to line up on Maple St since this is expected to be a very popular event. Everyone is invited. The local Boy’s and Girl’s Club will provide the readers for this year’s event. Parents must accompany their children at all times. In addition to the reading of the Polar Express, the club will provide free hot chocolate and have the Polar Express train running on the HO gauge indoor layout. Both the indoor HO gauge and the outdoor G gauge layouts depicting railroading in Western North Carolina will be open to all visitors. Club members will be running trains and providing insights to the history of railroading in Western North Carolina while demonstrating
model railroad operations. The depot is handicap accessible. This will be a great family get together just before Christmas. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
