The North Carolina Writers Network West and The Brandy Bar + Cocktails present ANNE GREEN and NICOLE FARMER as next in their series “In the Company of Writers.”
The program offers a series of personal and conversational dialogues featuring guest writers/poets followed by an open mic forum. These inspirational gatherings will elucidate and entertain those attending. The guest author speaks from 7-8 PM with an open mic from 8 -9 PM. The Chicago blues music of “Hollywood Johnny Cosgrove” (accompanied by Charlie Wilkinson) welcomes you, continues during intermission, and closes the evening. Sign-ups for the open mic are located at the front door.
Anne Waters Green, who now lives in Savannah, Georgia, was a resident of Hendersonville from 2005 to 2021. During her time in western North Carolina, she participated in many Great Smokies Writing Program classes where she was fortunate to study with Cathy Smith Bowers, Ken Chamlee, Tina Barr, Eric Nelson and others. She is the author of two chapbooks: The Season Lengthens ( KDP 2018) and Minute Men and Women ( Kelsey Books 2021). Her full collection The Watchful Eye was published by Swanhorse, an imprint of Monte Ceceri in April, 2025. In addition to her books, her poems appear in Salvation South, Kakalak and the anthology The Power of the Feminine “I.”
Nicole Farmer has authored three books of poetry: Wet Underbelly Wind (Finishing Line Press 2022), Honest Sonnets (Kelsay Books 2023) and OPEN HEART, published in 2025 by Kelsay Books. Her poems appear in Wisconsin Review, Kakalak, Wild Roof Journal, Poetry South, Drunk Monkeys, and many other journals. Nicole was awarded first prize in prose poetry from Bacopa Literary Review in 2020. An actress and director in the theatre for forty years, she holds a BFA from the Juilliard School of Drama. Nicole was also a primary school teacher for thirty years and is the mother of two independent daughters. She lives in Asheville with her talented film actor husband and their stubborn terrier.
