Bearfootin Public Art Walk
A Little Bit Bear-Obsessed
The Bearfootin’ Public Art Walk began in 2003 and has become an annual tradition in Hendersonville. Each year, a new set of bears are created by local artists and after being revealed in the spring, are placed along Main Street from May through October. Then in the fall, the new bears are auctioned off and proceeds benefit area nonprofits. Tourists and locals alike look forward to each year’s whimsical selection of bear statues, which gives people a fun, free activity to enjoy while they stroll the downtown area. Â
This program combines local artists, nonprofits and the community to create an interactive art walk downtown, and to raise funds for the community. Bearfootin’ is organized by Downtown Hendersonville.
Bearfootin brochures are available at the Hendersonville Welcome Center, located at 201 South Main Street.
As you explore Hendersonville and the surrounding county, be on the lookout for bears that have been purchased at auction over the years, many businesses and homes have them as permanent art installations!
