Discover the Youngs Mountain Trail, a recently unveiled 2.1-mile pathway (totaling 4.2 miles for a round-trip excursion) nestled along the northern perimeter of Lake Lure. Ascending 1,200 feet in elevation, this trail leads adventurers to the majestic cliffs adorning the mountain's summit. From this vantage point, soak in breathtaking vistas of Lake Lure, Rumbling Bald, Weed Patch Mountain, and the lower Hickory Nut Gorge. On clear days, marvel at the distant silhouette of Mt. Mitchell and the Black Mountains.
Spanning 437 acres of protected land curated by Conserving Carolina, this trail is the latest addition to the expanding network of the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail. Envisioned to interconnect with neighboring pathways like the Weed Patch Mountain Trail, the Youngs Mountain Trail also lays the groundwork for future links to the proposed Wilderness Gateway State Trail, stretching eastward towards Hickory.
