Barber’s spirited Overture to The School for Scandal opens the program, followed by James Stephenson’s PILLARS, a concerto showcasing the power and virtuosity of the low brass. Works by Copland and Carlos Simon complete an afternoon filled with vivid musical portraits of American history, dance, and tradition.
