Celebrate National Trails Day

June 6 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
Free

The Pisgah Conservancy invites the community to roll up their sleeves and celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 6, with a volunteer workday in the Pisgah Ranger District.

Volunteers will join The Pisgah Conservancy’s professional trails staff for a hands-on day of trail improvement work, including lopping vegetation, hauling brush, and repairing trail tread. The workday will take place on Big Creek Trail, which traverses nearly five miles from North Mills River Recreation Area to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

National Trails Day reflects the year-round commitment required to care for one of the nation’s most beloved national forests. Every mile of maintained trail helps ensure safe and sustainable access for hikers, bikers, equestrians, anglers, climbers, and other forest visitors enjoying the Pisgah Ranger District’s 400-mile trail system.

Pre-registration is required for the National Trails Day volunteer opportunity. The workday is rated a 6 out of 10 in difficulty, and volunteers must be at least 12 years old to participate. Registered volunteers will receive full event details by email.
