NC Writers Network & The Brandy Bar host “In the Company of Writers” Series

NC Writers Network West and The Brandy Bar + Cocktails welcome Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Paul Bonesteel for the next installment of “In the Company of Writers.” The evening features a guest discussion from 7–8 p.m., followed by an open mic from 8–9 p.m., with original music by John Longbottom throughout the event.

A Hendersonville native now living in Asheville, Bonesteel has produced documentaries since the early 1990s, including films about George Masa, Carl Sandburg and Asheville’s Municipal Golf Course. His 2023 film, Shadow of a Wheel, won an Emmy for historical documentary. His latest film, A Life Reimagined: The George Masa Story, premiered on PBS NC in May and highlights Masa’s photography, conservation advocacy and contributions to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Appalachian Trail. Bonesteel also co-authored the 2024 biography George Masa: A Life Reimagined with Janet McCue.
