Spring in the Hemlock Forest

Join on Thursday, March 19th at 1pm for an educational hemlock hike with the Hemlock Restoration Initiative at Little Bradley in the Green River Game Land. The hike will total around 1.5 miles and we will move at a slow pace to identify, appreciate, and learn about the flowers and hemlocks around us.
We will begin at the Little Bradley Falls trailhead and pass through a stand of hemlocks recently re-treated by HRI. We will meander our way along the trail and amongst the hemlocks. Your hike leaders will cover the ecological importance of hemlocks with a focus on their role in spring ephemeral habitat. We will also cover what is threatening the hemlocks, what is being done about it, and more. We will finish the hike before reaching Little Bradley Falls, giving participants the option to continue to the falls or to return to the parking area with the group.
*Please note* that there will be a river crossing during this hike. Please bring items to allow you to comfortably make this crossing, including waterproof boots or trekking poles.
More information about the meeting location and what to bring will be provided after registering.
