A progressive white couple’s proud liberal sensibilities are tested when their daughter brings her black fiancé home to meet them in this fresh and relevant stage adaptation of the iconic film Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. Blindsided by their daughter’s whirlwind romance and fearful for her future, Matt and Christina Drayton quickly realize the difference between supporting a mixed-race couple in your newspaper and welcoming one into your family–especially in 1967. But they’re surprised to find they aren’t the only ones concerned about the match, and it’s only a short time before a multi-family clash of racial and generational difference sweeps across the Draytons’ idyllic San Francisco terrace. Will the love between young Joanna and John prevail? With humor and insight, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner begins a conversation sure to continue at dinner tables long after the curtain comes down.

The Mercury Theatre of the Air’s “Dracula”

The Mercury Theatre of the Air’s “Dracula”

ADAPTED BY ORSON WELLES FROM THE BRAM STOKER NOVEL
An adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, recounted by various characters in the first person, was written by 23-year old Orson Welles with producer John Houseman.

Dracula became the premiere episode of The Mercury Theatre of the Air and is considered one of the most horrific and transcendent presentations of radio. It was originally broadcast on CBS Radio in 1938. This famous dramatic series — featuring adaptations of well-known novels, plays, and films — was originally produced, directed, written, hosted, and performed by Orson Welles, with the Mercury Theatre Company.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 1, 2022 3:00PM AND 7:30 PM
Approximate run time: 1 hour 20 minutes

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE By F. Andrew Leslie, from the novel by Shirley Jackson

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE By F. Andrew Leslie, from the novel by Shirley Jackson

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE
By F. Andrew Leslie, from the novel by Shirley Jackson

Directed by Jonathan Forrester
In a chilling and mystifying study in mounting terror, a small group of “psychically receptive” people are brought together in desolate and deserted Hill House, a brooding, mid-Victorian mansion known as a place of evil. The visitors have come to probe the secrets of the old house and to draw forth the mysterious powers that it is alleged to possess—powers which have brought madness, murder and suicide to those who have lived there in in the past. As disturbing events begin to transpire, the house begins to influence (and overtake) the visitors’ psyches. To stay sane, they must be stronger than the traumas the house has brought upon them.

SHOW TIMES:
OCTOBER 14 – OCTOBER 23
Friday & Saturday @ 7:30 p.m.
Sunday @ 3:00 p.m.

Broadway Swings

Broadway Swings

Returning to the stage after last year’s EVERYTHING IS ROSIE, Wendy Jones will team with the Jason DeCristofaro Trio featuring Jason DeCristofaro (vibes), Kevin Kehrberg (bass), and Rick Dilling (drums). Together they will perform memorable songs from The Great American Songbook – an enduring canon of the most important and influential American popular songs that began in the early 20th century. These beloved songs also became jazz standards and the group will perform these standards in a jazz style while providing a bit of history and trivia about the songs and musicals from which the tunes originated. The audience can expect to hear lovely renditions of tunes such as Come Rain or Come Shine, Hello Young Lovers, All the Things You Are, and music more including songs by Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, and even Stephen Sondheim. Who could ask for anything more?
