Opened in June 2023, the Mills River Taproom is Appalachian Mountain Brewery’s first location outside of Boone, NC, and is located near the entrance to Pisgah National Forest. Appalachian Mountain Brewery opened their original location in Boone in 2013 — at the time, the only brewery there —Â and quickly began winning awards for their brews. More recently, the began crafting their own hard ciders and hard sweet tea. Excited to join the burgeoning craft beer community found in Mills River, NC, AMB focuses on a sustainable brewing process, and donates spent grain used in the brewing process to local farms to be used for livestock feed. At their brand-new tasting room, you will find a 32-beer tap-list that showcases unique small-batch beers, ciders, seltzers, and a curated cocktail list, plus a food menu that showcases local ingredients and regional cuisine. Bold Rock Hard Cider is the biggest craft cider maker in the Carolinas. The Mills River cidery uses apples sourced only from Henderson County. Has a permanent food truck on-site, regularly has live music, movies on the big screen, and other special events such as weekly trivia, bingo, and yoga!

Greg Carter is an expert mushroom grower and forager who teaches the public how to cultivate their own mushrooms and leads expeditions to find edible mushrooms in the wild.
Visitors can sign up for half-day classes, farm tours or wild edible mushroom hunts.
Carter has more than 20 years experience and is certified through the State of North Carolina to provide wild edible mushrooms to local restaurants and chefs.

The brewery started in a small strip mall location in Arden, NC where Joey brewed and PJ saw to the taproom and distribution. After a few years the Brewery was ready for expansion and found a beautiful piece of land in the town the company was named after and construction commenced on a new 8,600 sq ft brewing facility and taproom. Mills River Brewing Co. features Big Creek amber ale, Middle Fork Mosaic IPA and Laurel Creek ESB, that honor the local trails and natural landmarks.

Mills River Park is a 48-acre park located at 124 Town Center Dr. Its amenities include 1.25 miles of paved multi-use trail, access to Mills River for splashing and tubing, a dog park, large playground, 2 picnic shelters, many picnic tables and benches scattered throughout, tennis/pickleball courts, basketball courts, a baseball diamond, and more. Mills River Park opens at dawn and closes at dusk. Park Restrooms are open seven days per week, during daylight hours.

North River Farms is a locally owned and operated family business. The 1,400-acre farm strives to produce the highest quality products. Poppins Posies began when Bob & Judy planted their first dahlia tuber, which came from the North Carolina Arboretum. One plant turned into a passion, and the two opened their own flower farm in 2003, fueled by their love of flowers and a desire to make local flowers affordable for everyone. Flowers are available by the “ginormous bucket” or half bucket, as well as pre-ordered arrangements filled with dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, lace, hydrangea and more. Flowers available June 1 through the first frost.
