Come join The Haunted Farm in giving back to the community this Christmas season.
The farm’s inaugural toy drive takes place Dec. 7 and Dec. 8. This festive and fun event features Santa Claus, the Grinch and plenty of holiday cheer. There’s no charge to attend — the farm asks everyone to donate unwrapped toys that can be delivered to families in Western North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene.
Although The Haunted Farm is known as one of the scariest haunted experiences in America, this is not a spooky or scary event, and there will be no tours of the haunted attraction.
Instead, folks are invited to take fun family photos, hang out by the bonfire and enjoy the sounds of happy kids and Christmas tunes. In addition to Santa Claus and the Grinch, there will be special appearances by Sprinkles and Trixie. Concessions will be available, including hot cocoa and cider.
Unveiled for the first time ever will be The Haunted Farm General Store, where purchases and donations will go to support the event and staff. Special ticket discounts for the 2025 Haunted Farm season will be offered.

The Peppermint Bear Scavenger Hunt will take you on a fun-filled bear hunt through downtown Hendersonville, looking for Peppermint Bear’s lost bear cubs, who are hiding in plain sight in the shops. Get your map at the Welcome Center, then head out to find all of the “missing” cubs. Get a stamp at each location after you’ve found the bear, and return your completed entry forms to the Welcome Center to be eligible for great prizes. For the sixth consecutive season, actor and theologian E.R. Haire, Jr. will once again grace the stage at St. John in the Wilderness with his moving one-man performance of Truman Capote’s heartwarming short story, A Christmas Memory. This annual tradition has become a beloved event for the Flat Rock community and beyond, offering a nostalgic escape into the tender, bittersweet memories of Capote’s early years.

The Mills River Fire Department, in partnership with the Mills River Parks and Recreation Department and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, will be bringing Santa Claus to Mills River neighborhoods! Due to Mills River’s size and mountainous roads, we will not be able to travel up each road but will pass through as many neighborhoods as possible. The annual Hendersonville Christmas Parade sets the tone for the holiday season. Local organizations and businesses participate in this festive event, which is capped off by a visit from the big man in red himself, Santa Claus! Again, this year, enjoy the parade in the evening, festively lit up in holiday spirit with Christmas lights. Come to Main Street Hendersonville to enjoy the floats and marching bands and get in on the holiday cheer. Located in Downtown Hendersonville.
Bakers of every age are encouraged to create their best gingerbread man or woman, boy or girl! There are four categories: traditional, unusual, bakers under 14 and teamwork.
The rules are simple: they must be 100% edible and the deadline for entries is December 1, 2024. We will announce the winners during our 29th Annual Christmas Open House on December 2nd and have all the cookies on display throughout that weekend. On weekdays from December 2 through 20, Historic Johnson Farm will host daytime Christmas tours. Tour the decorated historic house, visit the Heritage Weavers & Fiber Artists, and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. Guided tours are at 10:30 AM each day. While drop-ins are allowed, those with reservations take priority, so please consider making a reservation. Guided daytime tours are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors (65 and over), and free for those 4 and under.

Announcing First Annual Village Nights
The sisters of Johnson Family Farm invite you to their first annual Village Nights, Saturday, December 2 and Saturday, December 9 from 5pm-9pm. The holiday festivities will highlight the store located at 1202 Kanuga Road in Hendersonville.
Fresh Fraser Fir trees, wreaths, garland and a bow and ribbon bar will be featured along with tasty treats, hot cocoa and reindeer games for the kids.
The destination will also be a fun stop to take in while visiting various decorated homes and businesses such as Johnson Family Farm in this year’s Henderson County Holiday Light Trail.
“We’re going to decorate this place up to get everyone in the holiday spirit,” said Heather Johnson Price, one of the sisters and owners. “We want to put this event on to connect with the community and have an ole timey Christmas, go back to the basics.”
Get creative at the ribbon bar as you can buy various colored ribbon by the yard and make your own bow. Local artisan crafts and gift baskets are available for purchase. Fresh local vegetables are still available.

Four shows are set beginning on Friday, December 16th at 7:30pm. The rest of the schedule includes Saturday, December 17th at 7:30pm, Sunday, December 18th at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. The performances will be held in the Wilderness Room of the Parish House, across Rutledge Drive from the church building at 1895 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock. This is the 20th year Dr. Haire has performed the story from Los Angeles to Edinburgh, Scotland with many stops in between.

The story is a frankly autobiographical account of those years, especially of his relationship with one of the elderly cousins, Miss Sook Faulk.
The greatest examples of Capote’s skillfulness as a writer are found among the stories inspired by his early childhood and the relationships he forged growing up in the rural South.

Bullington Gardens, a public garden and horticultural education center, holds its 17th annual Holiday Craft and Greenery Sale both online and in-person.
On December 3 and 4, shop in-person at the Bullington Gardens Holiday Sale. Greenery, locally-grown holiday plants including cyclamen, amaryllis and poinsettia, as well as limited ornaments and crafts will be sold. Wreaths and swags enhanced with botanicals gathered on the Bullington Garden grounds and created by volunteers are ready for your home.
The online store will also be open November 15 – December 17, with nature-themed, handcrafted items including ornaments, textiles, quilts, botanical beauty products and holiday décor. The evergreen holiday gnome, standing 36 inches tall, adds a whimsical touch to your front porch. Online orders for holiday greenery will be accepted through Tuesday, November 23. The Holiday Greenery Sale features premium, freshly-cut Fraser fir trees ranging in height from five to eight feet. These native trees come from the Western North Carolina mountains and are wrapped for protection during transport.
