The Henderson County Curb Market celebrates the holiday with a Christmas Open House. Visitors will enjoy a drop-in appearance from Santa and his elf, complimentary cookies, hot cider and hot chocolate, a raffle basket, a children’s activity table, a local authors signing, a Native American story teller and the community Peppermint Bear scavenger hunt. There is shopping for the perfect hand crafted gifts created by local vendors, greenery, holiday decorations, seasonal produce, fresh baked goods, honey, preserve and relishes.
This is a free, family friendly event that draws a large number of families to Main Street. This event showcases the sights and sounds of Christmas along Main Street and creates Christmas memories for the whole family. In addition to free faerie hair and free face painting, children attending the event will learn how to to make a holiday craft, as well as learn where milk and cookies comes from.

Registration starts at 10:00 am and closes at 1:00 pm. The cost is $20 a rider or a $20 new toy. While at the park we will have auction Items, door prizes, 50/50, live music, BBQ, and more. Kickstands Up at 1:30 pm; the parade will be approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, and we will be riding down Main Street. You are encouraged to bring family and friends to witness the parade of motorcycles supporting the children in Henderson County. Please note that due to construction at the courthouse on Grove Street the parade will end at The Department of Social Services (DSS) at 1200 Spartanburg Hwy.

Downtown Hendersonville’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off the season in the ultimate small-town fashion: the lighting of the town Christmas tree! Enjoy live Christmas music, shopping, hot drinks and delicious treats, followed by a countdown to Santa’s arrival, when he flips the switch at dusk and lights up Main Street.
The evening continues with carriage rides and visits with Santa. More details to come.
On weekdays from December 1 through 18, Historic Johnson Farm will host daytime Christmas tours. Guided tours are at 10:30 AM each day. While drop-ins are allowed, those with reservations take priority, so please consider making a reservation. Guided daytime tours are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors (65 and over), and free for those 4 and under. Groups of 10 or more can schedule a private guided tour Monday-Thursday afternoons at 1:30 PM. Group rates are $8 a person for the afternoon private tours.
For those that do not wish to take a guided tour, on Fridays December 4, 11, and 18, the farm house will be open for self-guided tours from 1-3 PM. Reservations are not required, and tickets cost $5 for all.
All tours include a visit to the Heritage Weavers & Fiber Artists along with hot cocoa and cookies.
On Saturday, December 12, Historic Johnson Farm will offer its annual Candlelight Christmas Tours. Travel through the decorated 1880s farmhouse while learning about the Johnson Family and how they celebrated Christmas. Tours will take place at 5:00, 5:45, 6:30, and 7:15 PM, and reservations are required. Reservations will open November 2. Candlelight tour tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors (65 and over), and free for those 4 and under. Tours will include live music from local students, a visit with the Heritage Weavers & Fiber Artists, and hot cocoa and cookies.
These 4-hour events are free of admission and will include lots of opportunities to pet & meet llamas, a Christmas Sleigh Photo Booth with llamas, our open playground, and a beautifully decorated barn for Christmas. You will also have the opportunity to walk your very own llama through the Holiday Obstacle Course and ride the llama barrel train for an additional charge. Everything else will be free and we also plan to have a food truck each day as well as our Gift Shop serving treats and offering unique llama and alpaca products.

The Apple Valley Model Railroad Club will be hosting a reading of The Polar Express. There will be plenty of hot chocolate to enjoy. The sisters of Johnson Family Farm invite you to their first annual Village Nights, Saturday, December 2 and Saturday, December 9 from 5pm-9pm. The holiday festivities will highlight the store located at 1202 Kanuga Road in Hendersonville.
Fresh Fraser Fir trees, wreaths, garland and a bow and ribbon bar will be featured along with tasty treats, hot cocoa and reindeer games for the kids.
The destination will also be a fun stop to take in while visiting various decorated homes and businesses such as Johnson Family Farm in this year’s Henderson County Holiday Light Trail.
“We’re going to decorate this place up to get everyone in the holiday spirit,” said Heather Johnson Price, one of the sisters and owners. “We want to put this event on to connect with the community and have an ole timey Christmas, go back to the basics.”
Get creative at the ribbon bar as you can buy various colored ribbon by the yard and make your own bow. Local artisan crafts and gift baskets are available for purchase. Fresh local vegetables are still available.

Four shows are set beginning on Friday, December 16th at 7:30pm. The rest of the schedule includes Saturday, December 17th at 7:30pm, Sunday, December 18th at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. The performances will be held in the Wilderness Room of the Parish House, across Rutledge Drive from the church building at 1895 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock. This is the 20th year Dr. Haire has performed the story from Los Angeles to Edinburgh, Scotland with many stops in between.

The greatest examples of Capote’s skillfulness as a writer are found among the stories inspired by his early childhood and the relationships he forged growing up in the rural South.

Mr. Capote was a flamboyant figure in both literary and cultural circles. Controversial, colorful and complex, he was a writer of uncommon grace. His best-known works include Breakfast at Tiffany’s, In Cold Blood, Other Voices Other Rooms, and The Grass Harp. Mr. Capote died in 1984 at the age of 59
Earle Ross (E.R.) Haire, Jr. PhD is a native of North Carolina. His professional achievements combine acting and theology. In Los Angeles, he worked as an actor and at Paramount Studios. Theater credits in Los Angeles include The Foreigner, You Can’t Take It With You, Hamlet, Henry V, Richard III, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and the comedy spoof Riffs of Shakespeare. Dr. Haire is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Dr. Haire earned a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale University Divinity School, focusing on drama and worship. In 2017 he earned a PhD. In Theology and Ethics from the University of the Edinburgh in Scotland.

Bullington Gardens, a public garden and horticultural education center, holds its 17th annual Holiday Craft and Greenery Sale both online and in-person.
On December 3 and 4, shop in-person at the Bullington Gardens Holiday Sale. Greenery, locally-grown holiday plants including cyclamen, amaryllis and poinsettia, as well as limited ornaments and crafts will be sold. Wreaths and swags enhanced with botanicals gathered on the Bullington Garden grounds and created by volunteers are ready for your home.
The online store will also be open November 15 – December 17, with nature-themed, handcrafted items including ornaments, textiles, quilts, botanical beauty products and holiday décor. The evergreen holiday gnome, standing 36 inches tall, adds a whimsical touch to your front porch. Online orders for holiday greenery will be accepted through Tuesday, November 23. The Holiday Greenery Sale features premium, freshly-cut Fraser fir trees ranging in height from five to eight feet. These native trees come from the Western North Carolina mountains and are wrapped for protection during transport.
