Santa has a big job climbing down all the chimneys in the world on Christmas Eve. But where better to practice than one of the world’s largest natural chimneys? Santa will be back in the park this year for his Christmas trial run rappelling down Chimney Rock. Attendees can watch Santa rappel, pose for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, hike with an elf, make holiday crafts, listen to live music, meet some of our live animal ambassadors, and more.

We are looking for the most artistic creations the entrants can cook up,” said Barbara Hughes, owner of Narnia Studios. On weekdays from December 1 through 19, Historic Johnson Farm will host daytime Christmas tours.
Guided tours are at 10:30 AM each day. While drop-ins are allowed, those with reservations take priority, so please consider making a reservation. Guided daytime tours are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors (65 and over), and free for those 4 and under. Groups of 10 or more can schedule a private guided tour on any weekday at 1 PM.
For those that do not want to take a guided tour, on Fridays December 5, 12, 19, the farm house will be open for self-guided tours from 1-3 PM. Reservations are not needed for self-guided tours, and tickets cost $5 for all.
Candlelight Christmas tours will be held on Saturday, December 13. Four tours will be offered that evening, at 5:00, 5:45, 6:30, and 7:15 PM. Visitors will take part in a guided tour of the decorated 1880 farm house, visit with the Heritage Weavers and Fiber Artists, listen to live music by local students, and partake in hot cocoa and cookies.
Reservations and advance payment are required for the Candlelight Christmas tours as space is limited. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors (65 and over), and free for 4 and under. Children are more than welcome, but please know the tour is about an hour of listening to guides talk about farm history before ending with hot chocolate and cookies.

The Omni Grove Park Inn invites guests to experience the 33rd Annual National Gingerbread House Competition, showcasing over 45 extraordinary edible creations from bakers of all ages. Entries will be displayed throughout the resort from November 18, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The competition, held on November 17, offers more than $40,000 in cash and prizes. While judging is closed to the public, the public is welcome to view the displays after 6 p.m. on Sundays and anytime Monday through Thursday, excluding certain holidays and dates.

Hendersonville’s annual Holiday Tour of Inns & Cookie Caper embodies the warmth and spirit of the Christmas season.
This festive self-driving tour takes you to five historic inns decorated in holiday grandeur, with each host going all out to serve the tastiest cookies.
Take a walk through history as you explore Hendersonville’s elegant and romantic inns. This year’s tour features a mix of returning and new locations. Returning are the 1898 Waverly Inn, Echo Mountain Inn, and Elizabeth Leigh Inn. Participating for the first time are the Charleston Inn and Osceola Lake Inn.
Tickets for the Holiday Tour of Inns & Cookie Caper are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 17 and under. Ticket purchase includes a brochure map with a brief history of each property, as well as cookies at each stop.
Proceeds from this event help fund the Hendersonville Historic Preservation Commission’s efforts. The Commission is honored to present one of the many Home for the Holidays events in partnership with Visit Hendersonville.

The Land O’ Sky Garden Club’s Christmas Bazaar offers the best in fresh greenery, holiday gifts and tasty treats.
As the saying goes, “locals know the best places to shop,” and this one-day annual sale is always popular as the bazaar packs J&D Produce with a dazzling array of gifts and décor.
Among the highlights are handmade wreaths that can be embellished with multiple options at the “wreath bar.” Also popular are fresh yule logs adorned with local greenery and the garden club’s signature paperwhites and amaryllis bulbs in festive pots from rustic to sophisticated.
New this year are a limited number of fresh greenery-made reindeer suitable for placing indoors or outdoors. As always, the bazaar provides delicious baked goods, jams and homemade treats. This rain-or-shine event is a long-time favorite for holiday shoppers.
In addition, proceeds from this one-day-only sale are reinvested into the community, funding gardens, scholarships and local programs in Henderson County.

“We’re going to decorate this place up to get everyone in the holiday spirit,” said Heather Johnson Price, one of the sisters and owners. “We want to put this event on to connect with the community and have an ole timey Christmas, go back to the basics.”
Get creative at the ribbon bar as you can buy various colored ribbon by the yard and make your own bow. Local artisan crafts and gift baskets are available for purchase. Fresh local vegetables are still available.

Truman Capote’s beloved short story, A Christmas Memory, will once again be performed as a one-man show by actor and theologian E.R. Haire, Jr. at The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness. Four shows are set beginning on Friday, December 16th at 7:30pm. The rest of the schedule includes Saturday, December 17th at 7:30pm, Sunday, December 18th at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. The performances will be held in the Wilderness Room of the Parish House, across Rutledge Drive from the church building at 1895 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock. This is the 20th year Dr. Haire has performed the story from Los Angeles to Edinburgh, Scotland with many stops in between.

A Christmas Memory takes place during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Until he was ten years old, Truman Capote lived with elderly relatives in a small town in rural Alabama. The story is a frankly autobiographical account of those years, especially of his relationship with one of the elderly cousins, Miss Sook Faulk.
The greatest examples of Capote’s skillfulness as a writer are found among the stories inspired by his early childhood and the relationships he forged growing up in the rural South.
A Christmas Memory first appeared in Mademoiselle Magazine in the late 1950s, when Capote was 27 years old, and has since become one of his most beloved and bestselling works.
Mr. Capote was a flamboyant figure in both literary and cultural circles. Controversial, colorful and complex, he was a writer of uncommon grace. His best-known works include Breakfast at Tiffany’s, In Cold Blood, Other Voices Other Rooms, and The Grass Harp. Mr. Capote died in 1984 at the age of 59
Earle Ross (E.R.) Haire, Jr. PhD is a native of North Carolina. His professional achievements combine acting and theology. In Los Angeles, he worked as an actor and at Paramount Studios. Theater credits in Los Angeles include The Foreigner, You Can’t Take It With You, Hamlet, Henry V, Richard III, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and the comedy spoof Riffs of Shakespeare. Dr. Haire is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Dr. Haire earned a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale University Divinity School, focusing on drama and worship. In 2017 he earned a PhD. In Theology and Ethics from the University of the Edinburgh in Scotland.

On December 3 and 4, shop in-person at the Bullington Gardens Holiday Sale. Greenery, locally-grown holiday plants including cyclamen, amaryllis and poinsettia, as well as limited ornaments and crafts will be sold. Wreaths and swags enhanced with botanicals gathered on the Bullington Garden grounds and created by volunteers are ready for your home.
The online store will also be open November 15 – December 17, with nature-themed, handcrafted items including ornaments, textiles, quilts, botanical beauty products and holiday décor. The evergreen holiday gnome, standing 36 inches tall, adds a whimsical touch to your front porch. Online orders for holiday greenery will be accepted through Tuesday, November 23. The Holiday Greenery Sale features premium, freshly-cut Fraser fir trees ranging in height from five to eight feet. These native trees come from the Western North Carolina mountains and are wrapped for protection during transport. In addition to beautiful, locally-made crafts, an assortment of homemade baked goods and other handmade items will be offered at the BPO DOES Holiday Craft Show and Bake Sale – just in time for the holidays! And don’t forget to pick up your tickets for our Saturday afternoon raffles! Proceeds to benefit the DOES charities, including our Blue Ridge Community College Scholarship Fund.
